Psychedelics: a powerful catalyst for emotional transformation.

Safe. Scientifically-backed. Profoundly effective.

The science of change.

At New Heights Experiential, we use ketamine and other psychedelic medications because they create a unique window of opportunity for rapid, meaningful change- especially when paired with expert therapy and the right environment.

Unlike traditional talk therapy alone, psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy helps clients move past the mental blocks, trauma responses, and ingrained patterns that often keep couples stuck.

Why combine psychedelics with intensive therapy?

The real magic happens when expert-led therapy combines with the altered state induced during psychedelic administration. In this state and in the window after administration, couples can:

  • Access deeper layers of emotion and memory

  • Break through rigid thought patterns and behavior loops

  • Experience vulnerability and empathy without fear

  • Explore core wounds with greater clarity and compassion

  • Practice and embody new ways of relating- in real time

What is ketamine?

Originally developed as an anesthetic, certain types of ketamine are now FDA-approved and widely recognized as a groundbreaking treatment for mental health conditions such as depression, PTSD, and anxiety. Ketamine does not suppress breathing or heart function, making it safe for use outside medical settings. It is currently the only legal psychedelic medicine available for use in therapeutic settings in the U.S. Other types of ketamine are extensively studied for off-label use for treatment of various mental health conditions and have shown promise in increasing the efficacy of traditional therapeutic methods used in couples therapy.

Ketamine produces a range of effects, including pain relief, sedation, euphoria, dissociation, and altered perception of time and space that can last for 2-3 hours. Many individuals report experiencing a sense of profound relaxation, introspection, and heightened emotional awareness during ketamine sessions. When used intentionally alongside guided therapy intensives, ketamine can:

  • Promote neuroplasticity, helping the brain form new, healthier pathways on a biological level

  • Stimulate emotional insight, openness, and reduced defensiveness

  • Rapidly improve symptoms of depression, trauma, and other emotional struggles

  • Allow examination of difficult memories and emotions in a grounded physical way

  • Offer a safe psychedelic experience with minimal side effects and no daily dosing

During and after ketamine sessions, your brain is more adaptable- this is called neuroplasticity. Our therapists guide you in using this window to reshape relationship patterns, emotional responses, and the very way you understand yourself and your partner.

What is psilocybin?

Among psychedelic medications, psilocybin- a natural compound found in certain mushrooms- has shown particularly powerful therapeutic potential. In Colorado and Oregon, psilocybin is a legal psychedelic medicine available as a tool for therapeutic exploration. Some couples choose to explore it personally during their retreat, and when paired with structured therapy, the results can be profound. Psilocybin induces a deeply introspective and emotionally expansive state, often lasting 4–6 hours.

During the altered state induced by psilocybin, the effect softens ego defenses, opens the heart, and helps dissolve rigid patterns that keep couples emotionally distant. The experience has been described as euphoric, visionary, and spiritually meaningful. When used intentionally alongside guided therapy intensives, psilocybin can:

  • Create a sense of shared transcendence and emotional unity

  • Enhance vulnerability, empathy, and deep honesty in the relational space

  • Unlock insights into long-standing patterns or fears and allow their unwinding

  • Rekindle emotional and physical intimacy during the experience and afterward

  • Serve as a bridge between intellect and emotion for those stuck in their logical mind

During and after psilocybin sessions, your mind becomes more open, more connected- this is called heightened neuroflexibility. In this expanded state, our therapists help you explore deeper layers of emotion, rework old narratives, and create new pathways of intimacy and understanding between you and your partner.

Our retreats go far beyond "psychedelic journeys"- they’re curated experiences where ketamine and other psychedelics unlock, and therapy integrates. This dual approach allows couples to absorb lasting insights, embody new relational dynamics, and return home with tools to maintain their growth. The result?

  • A more connected, resilient, emotionally present version of your partnership.

  •  In just one weekend, you can do the work it might take months or years to achieve in weekly talk therapy.

  • "I truly felt like I had tried EVERYTHING to address my mental health struggles coming into this, and now I can confidently say that this KAP experience led me to the missing piece in my healing journey. I never realized what it was like to view myself and my life through this different lens. I never knew what being healed would really look like."

  • "I am FULLY a believer in what they do, and I will be back! I highly recommend this retreat to anyone wanting to go deeper with their partner and with themselves, who are ready to "get out of their head" and do some real work. "

  • "One of the major impacts of the medicine (combined with therapy) is reduced rumination and hypervigilance. I honestly have not experienced a quiet mind since I can remember. This is a true blessing (makes me cry typing it). I feel less chaos and less on constant alert. I notice sounds with less of a startle reflex... I am starting to understand when people say "be in the moment".
